Noe Pods is the culmination of my final project titled "Designing Sleeping Pods at Stations and Halts for Commuters in Jakarta." Noe Pods is a semi-enclosed sleeping chair specifically designed for commuters in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. It is equipped with features tailored to the needs of users, providing a comfortable resting space at stations and halts.

BACKGROUND

Based on the report from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), 8.07 million residents in Indonesia are commuters, and 18.48% of them are from the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. This is attributed to the high population density in Jakarta. Areas with high population density are typically facilitated with significantly better public transportation compared to those with lower population density. This is also part of the efforts to address the high levels of congestion in Jakarta. Jakarta is dubbed as the city with the worst traffic congestion globally, as evidenced by research indicating an average travel time for a single journey to and from work in Jakarta is around 30 minutes to 2 hours.

The prolonged commuting time can impose both physical and mental pressure on workers in Jakarta, especially commuters. Commuters also spend approximately 2-10 minutes in transit at a stop or station waiting for the next departure. This results in commuter populations experiencing increased fatigue, impacting their physical and psychological well-being. Therefore, Noe Pods are introduced at stops and stations in Jakarta to serve as spaces for commuter workers to take short naps, aiming to help alleviate the fatigue experienced by these workers.
